Your options are numerous when it comes to accommodations in Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte. CB is in the valley, and Mt. CB is at the mountain base where the ski lifts run (more about what to do in CB in a later post). Depending on where you want to set up camp, you may want to pick one over the other.\u00a0\u00a0 No matter where you stay though, you have a free shuttle bus that runs between the two towns and a nicely paved path. This year we hiked from our condo in Mt. CB to town and it was about 3 miles.<\/p>\n

In CB, the primary accommodations available to visitors are single-family homes. There\u2019s one hotel on Elk Ave. (the main street in town). In Mt. CB, you have a couple of hotels, some homes, but mostly condos are available to rent. Depending on your needs (and budget), you can rent anywhere from a one-bedroom condo to a 5 bedroom home.<\/p>\n

We have primarily chosen to stay in a condo over the years because we like having a full kitchen. A lot of our friends will rent a condo together to save on costs, plus it\u2019s just more fun to eat meals with friends and have a living area to hang out in as opposed to being confined to a hotel room. Others will rent a house to share with a few people and so they can have their dogs with them. If you want to bring your four-legged friends, you may have to do a little more research to find a place. Some of the condo buildings expressly prohibit pets, such as Redstone.<\/p>\n

In my opinion, one of the best ways to find a place to stay is to go through vrbo.com<\/a>. We have rented our condo through this site on numerous occasions. You can also go through Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR)<\/a> or Peak Rentals<\/a>. If you find a place you like, you\u2019re better off getting to know the owner and go through them to rent for the next year (because you will you want to come back!!).<\/p>\n
